ABOUT THE AREA
Golfo di Marinella is famous for its many inlets and large stretch of beautiful beach. It is a picturesque area with plenty to do and see. The town was once a fishing village, abundant with colourful buildings and is now a well-known seaside destination.
BEACHES
Le Cinque Spiagge
These five beaches stretch along the coastline near the town centre. The proximity to the town along with the fine white sand and crystal-clear waters, make it a delightful town beach that is easy to access and has plenty of amenities.
Caddinas Bay
Just a few hundred meters from Golfo Aranci, this is another pristine white sand beach, with shallow waters that are perfect for children to play along the shoreline. The well-equipped marina is nearby for food and drinks and shelter from the midday sun.
Gulf of Marinella
Within the gulf are several small bays, again with the distinctive white sand the region is known for. This is another lovely beach for families and can be easily accessed.
THINGS TO DO
Pozzo Sacro Milis
Located just above the town, in the railway station square, this monument dates back to the Nuragic period and the well-preserved staircase and impressive chamber can still be seen.
Capo Figari
For nature lovers, this beautiful natural area and the island of Figarolo are about 3km away from the town. It is accessible via a path beginning in Cala Moresca and can be easily explored on foot or by bicycle and even horseback.
Golfo Aranci
With access to 15 beautiful beaches, Golfo Aranci is a quaint seaside resort with a charming port. The town has a few local amenities such as shops, bars and restaurants, as well as many entertaining evening events and summer festivities. The best restaurants are near the port and serve fresh fish as well as classic pizzas.
Porto Cervo
An up-market town and centre of indulgence, it is located around two yacht harbours on the north side of this dazzling stretch of coastline and being the main resort of the area and a paradise for the jet-set, it’s definitely worth a visit.
Prehistoric Sites at Arzachena
Visit the prehistoric remains including the Albucciu Nuraghe – a bronze age tower, the Tomba dei Giganti Coddu Vecchiu and the Li Muri Necropolis, scattered around the town.
Inland Gallura
Explore by car or on foot the dramatic mountains of the interior, the rugged countryside and the small character towns and villages. Alternatively, leave your car in Palau and take the stream train to Tempio Pausania, a spectacular journey across the Galluran countryside.
Agriturismo
Sample traditional Sardinian cuisine in a farm restaurant. Amongst others, we recommend the Agriturismi Tenuta Pilastru, la Sasima, la Somara and La Colti, all located near Arzachena.
Water sports
Discover the exquisite coastline from the sea and enjoy the excellent conditions of the north east coast for windsurfing, sailing, diving, snorkelling, etc.
