A welcoming and traditional Sardinian hotel in Northern Sardinia.

The property itself comprises 53, authentically decorated guest rooms, split between a small number of buildings which face a good-size swimming pool, surrounded by sunloungers. These rooms successfully blend traditional and homely Sardinian décor with modern facilities, including air-conditioning and free Wi-Fi.

Apart from the pool, Hotel La Funtana also offers guests an on-site restaurant, showcasing a Mediterranean menu using tasty fresh ingredients, plus there’s a separate menu for the little ones. Other touches such as a small library and playground for the children all help to give this hotel its added charm, making it a lovely choice for a Sardinia holiday.

Outside of the hotel, guests are just a short walk from Santa Teresa Gallura, where there’s a good selection of shops, restaurants and bars, along with fine ice-cream parlours and some stunning views across the Strait of Bonifacio. The small beach, Rena Bianca, is close to the town and offers wonderful soft sands and turquoise waters

About the Local Area

ABOUT AREA

Santa Teresa Gallura is a village situated at the extreme northern end of Sardinia overlooking the beautiful Strait of Bonifacio. Its port ensures excellent links from and to La Maddalena island and Corsica - perfect for day trips. The sandy beach of La Rena Bianca is just a short stroll from the town centre where on clear days it is possible to admire the iconic white cliffs of Bonifacio. Porto Pozzo with its harbour and water sports is only 4km away, and during the spring you can admire lavender plants and sea poppies.

BEACHES

Rena Bianca
The beach at Rena Bianca is 700 metres long and is covered with very fine sand that at the water's edge has a pink reflection thanks to the tiny fragments of corals you can find there. The water colour shifts across what feels like a thousand tones of blue and the gently shelving nature of the shallow water means it's safe for children. The beach is well equipped and sheltered from the western wind.

Capo Testa
This sheltered beach has clear water and is surrounded by coves and Mediterranean vegetation ideal for snorkelling and diving.

Santa Reparata
This beach is very popular with scuba divers thanks to the excellent visibility and abounding rocks.

THINGS TO SEE & DO

La Maddalena Islands
Spend a day cruising around and swimming from these stunning islands - a favourite with those seeking tranquillity, natural beauty and unspoilt surroundings. There are frequent ferries or boat trips available from Palau.

Watersports
Discover the exquisite coastline from the sea and enjoy the excellent conditions of the north east coast for wind-surfing, sailing, diving, snorkelling, etc.

Prehistoric Sites at Arzachena
Visit the prehistoric remains including the Albucciu Nuraghe – a bronze age tower, the Tomba dei Giganti Coddu Vecchiu and the Li Muri Necropolis, scattered around the town.

Porto Cervo
An up-market town and centre of indulgence, it is located around two yacht harbours on the north side of this dazzling stretch of coastline, and being the main resort of the area and a paradise for the jet-set, it’s definitely worth a visit.

Inland Gallura
Explore by car or on foot the dramatic mountains of the interior, the rugged countryside and the small character towns and villages. Alternatively, leave your car in Palau and take the stream train to Tempio Pausania, a spectacular journey across the Galluran countryside.

Agriturismo
Sample traditional Sardinian cuisine in a farm restaurant. Amongst others, we recommend the Agriturismi Tenuta Pilastru, la Sasima or la Somara, all located near Arzachena.
