Cala Gonone
A quaint seaside town that is the gateway to the rugged east coast of Sardinia. There is a wonderful small-town charm with lovely natural surroundings to be explored. There are multiple points of interest in the immediate area with Spiaggia Cala Gonone and Cala Luna, a beautiful lagoon, both areas are a perfect beach escape for all. There are many ruins to explore within the area, thanks to the area’s Nuragic times and inhabitancies by the Greeks and Romans.
The town is within proximity to local attractions, whilst the Gulfo di Orosei stretches for miles, stunning azure waters and rugged coastline spoil all who visit. Within the town itself is a brilliant aquarium, a perfect day out for families. The aquarium boasts a wealth of marine life and unique concepts, making it one of the most impressive in the country. Of course, the food in the area is sublime, experience a host of local and traditional flavours, you will also be able to find international cuisine. Some may argue that this is a hidden gem on the coast of Sardinia and is a true unsung destination that provides its guests with a fantastic holiday.
Beaches
Spiaggia Cala Gonone
This is Cala Gonone’s main beach, characterised by pristine white sand, clear azure waters and convenient proximity to the village.
Palmasera
This beach is located within a resort, this is a perfect beach to spend the entire day, as it is equipped with every comfort, from showers and toilets to water sports!
Cala Cortoe
A perfect beach to visit with kids, the parking is nearby and the water is lovely and shallow, providing a haven to spend a fun afternoon on the beach.
Cala Fuili
This beach is hidden behind a thick forest and is reached by climbing down a staircase, this is the last beach you can reach by car from Cala Gonone, this is also where the trail to Cala Luna begins. The cove is pebbly rather than the usual sand found over the island. However, it is a beautifully secluded area that is guaranteed to give you a relaxing day by the water's edge.
Cala Luna
This is a stunning long, sandy beach in Orosei Gulf. It is around 800m long and is a spot for climbers, it is reached by a moderate hike that begins in Cala Fuili. On the beach itself, there are several scenic caves to explore.

Boat Tours
There is so much beautiful coastline to explore in this area, that by embarking on a boat tour, you will be able to see much of the wonderful coastline with ease! There are many options available from mini cruises to a private tour with an expert skipper!
The Sea Oxen Caves
Reached by boat from Cala Gonone, you can embark on a guided tour which lasts around one hour. The caves got their name from the monk seal which used to live in the area in the 1900s. Unfortunately, the seals slowly stopped coming to the caves due to hunting, the cave remains a beautiful place to visit nonetheless.
Walking
There are many magnificent and rewarding walking routes in the area. There are routes for all abilities, choosing the correct one is important, you can always ask the hotel reception or your rep for more information.
The Aquarium
The perfect place for families, the aquarium has been recognised as a high-standard park and has won awards.
Visit Tiscali
If you are a fan of ancient civilizations, Tiscali Nuragic Village is well worth a visit. This well-preserved Nuragic complex is not too far away from Cala Gonone and can be reached via a nice scenic hike. You can book guided tours and discover all there is to know about this ancient society and its old inhabitants.
Explore Supramonte
The Supramonte is an area of utmost beauty, still wild and even unexplored in some parts. This mountain range is a wonderful place for nature lovers to fully immerse in the glorious sunshine. Add places like the Golgo Plateau or Su Gorropu Canyon to your list for a wonderful adventure.
