Newly refurbished, the extravagant Hotel Abi d'Oru provides an indulgent experience, set against a fantastic beachfront backdrop.

The perfect choice for a relaxing beach holiday in the north east of Sardinia, Hotel Abi d'Oru will appeal to both couples and families alike. Set in expansive grounds filled with manicured lawns and dominating palm trees, the hotel is ideally positioned to make the most of its location with views out over the Gulf of Marinella and the ocean beyond.

The hotel has invested substantially in a complete refit, targeting all public areas and every single room so guests can rest assured each detail has been carefully considered to ensure a memorable stay. The main hotel is lined with wide arches and meandering terracotta roofs, creating an elevated and spacious atmosphere. All rooms have been decorated with Italian flair, enjoying either a balcony or a terrace and most offering sea views.

Guests can choose from a choice of three fantastic restaurants on site, two of which located by the beach, serving the best in Sardinian cuisine and seafood as well as classic pizzas and grilled meats. It is however the impressive Marinella Beach that is the real draw here – a long stretch of white sand gently lapped by crystal-clear water, a section of which, is exclusively reserved for the hotel’s guests with complimentary sunloungers and parasols.

The hotel's on-site facilities are hard to beat. Choose between tennis, five-a-side football, the fitness centre or bike hire and nearby, there is a range of water sports available (payable locally). Add in a kids' clubs for the little ones plus their own children's pool, and for the adults wishing to wind down, an indulgent SPA – all the boxes are ticked to experience the best 5* holiday. The charming village of Porto Rotondo with its chic boutiques, pretty squares and prestigious marina, can be  discovered with ease, using the complimentary shuttle offered by the hotel.

Good to know

  • Completed for 2025! The hotel has undergone a full, €20 million refurbishment.

  • On the beach, the first and second row of sungloungers and umbrellas are included with the Premium Suite and the Signature Suite. All other room types will be allocated on the other rows on a 'first come - first served basis'. 

  • The hotel provides a regular, free shuttle to and from Porto Rotondo.

  • A variety of excursions can be purchased additionally from the reception of the hotel. These include E-bike tours, vineyard tours, boat trips and more.

  • A tourist tax is payable locally to all hotels in Italy and costs €5 per person per night (maximum of 7 nights).

Facilities in hotel

Large pool (heated depending on ambient temperature), children's splash area (located in the kids' club), poolside bar, three restaurants, Wi-Fi, lift.

Tennis court and five-a-side football pitch (free of charge however a reservation is required), fitness centre, shuttle service to Porto Rotondo (free of charge), water sports and bike rental (both payable locally). 

Free 'Bee Happy' mini club for children aged four to 12 (English speaking), six days a week from mid-June to mid-September. Babysitting service available (payable locally).

The SPA includes a sauna, himalayan salt wall and Turkish bath. There is a couple massage room with private Jacuzzi. (Payable locally upon reservation).

Half Board includes breakfast and a 'three-course dinner'.
Dinner can be booked at Mediterraneo or Tzia-Maria. The Mediterranean menu changes daily, on a two-week rotation.Tzia-Maria is a pizzeria which also serves cold meats. Guests booking a stay on half board basis will also have a 20% discount on the food items for a dinner at the beach seafood restaurant Marinella, which is open for lunch and dinner.

En-suite shower room (some with baths), air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, satellite television, minibar, safe, beach towels and bathrobes, all rooms have a balcony or terrace.

For families

Rooms sleeping up to four and interconnecting Deluxe Garden rooms can be requested. 'Bee happy' kids club, complimentary for children aged four to 12 with English speaking staff. Kids' club has an air-conditioned play room, with practical activities such as drawing and cooking classes, as well as a media corner with video games for older children. Nursery available for children aged 0 to three years old at a supplement of €20 per day. As well as the bookable activities detailed above, there are also tours available to book locally at reception (extra charges apply).

About the Local Area

ABOUT THE AREA

Golfo di Marinella is famous for its many inlets and large stretch of beautiful beach. It is a picturesque area with plenty to do and see. The town was once a fishing village, abundant with colourful buildings and is now a well-known seaside destination.

BEACHES

Le Cinque Spiagge

These five beaches stretch along the coastline near the town centre. The proximity to the town along with the fine white sand and crystal-clear waters, make it a delightful town beach that is easy to access and has plenty of amenities.

Caddinas Bay

Just a few hundred meters from Golfo Aranci, this is another pristine white sand beach, with shallow waters that are perfect for children to play along the shoreline. The well-equipped marina is nearby for food and drinks and shelter from the midday sun.

Gulf of Marinella

Within the gulf are several small bays, again with the distinctive white sand the region is known for. This is another lovely beach for families and can be easily accessed.

 

THINGS TO DO

Pozzo Sacro Milis

Located just above the town, in the railway station square, this monument dates back to the Nuragic period and the well-preserved staircase and impressive chamber can still be seen.

Capo Figari

For nature lovers, this beautiful natural area and the island of Figarolo are about 3km away from the town. It is accessible via a path beginning in Cala Moresca and can be easily explored on foot or by bicycle and even horseback.

Golfo Aranci

With access to 15 beautiful beaches, Golfo Aranci is a quaint seaside resort with a charming port. The town has a few local amenities such as shops, bars and restaurants, as well as many entertaining evening events and summer festivities. The best restaurants are near the port and serve fresh fish as well as classic pizzas.

Porto Cervo
An up-market town and centre of indulgence, it is located around two yacht harbours on the north side of this dazzling stretch of coastline and being the main resort of the area and a paradise for the jet-set, it’s definitely worth a visit.

Prehistoric Sites at Arzachena
Visit the prehistoric remains including the Albucciu Nuraghe – a bronze age tower, the Tomba dei Giganti Coddu Vecchiu and the Li Muri Necropolis, scattered around the town.

Inland Gallura
Explore by car or on foot the dramatic mountains of the interior, the rugged countryside and the small character towns and villages. Alternatively, leave your car in Palau and take the stream train to Tempio Pausania, a spectacular journey across the Galluran countryside.

Agriturismo
Sample traditional Sardinian cuisine in a farm restaurant. Amongst others, we recommend the Agriturismi Tenuta Pilastru, la Sasima, la Somara and La Colti, all located near Arzachena.

Discover the exquisite coastline from the sea and enjoy the excellent conditions of the north east coast for windsurfing, sailing, diving, snorkelling, etc.
