For food lovers embarking on Sardinia holidays, the cuisine will be at the forefront of their mind.

Sardinian cuisine expresses a simple approach to life, imbued in its cheeses, spit-roasted meats, handmade pasta, olive oil and distinctive wines. With everything from classic Italian to native and traditional farming recipes, foodies will rejoice in the culinary opportunities presented all over the island.

Whilst many holidaymakers love to explore the different restaurants a city or town has to offer, it is equally great to stay in resort for an evening, enjoy delicious food and soak up the hotel’s atmosphere.

To help find the perfect place to stay, we have highlighted some of our favourite hotels with the best dining experiences.

1. Villa del Golfo Lifestyle Resort

Cannigione | 5-star hotel

The perfect choice for a romantic holiday in Sardinia, Villa del Golfo offers packages on a half board basis, providing a choice of three dining venues, which are bound to satisfy the palate. With a large veranda next to the pool, the “MiraLuna” Restaurant overlooks the evocative panorama of Cannigione Bay. This restaurant’s culinary experience is inspired by the Mediterranean, its aromas and its flavours, whilst at the Lounge Bar, soft music and refined cocktails are key ingredients to a perfect evening.

Golfo Aranci | 4-star superior hotel

Nestled in a corner between two fine sandy beaches, Gabbiano Azzuro is surrounded by crystal-clear, shallow waters with stunning views. The hotel offers guests both bed & breakfast and half board packages, and high quality and beautifully presented cuisine is available from the two main restaurants.

“White Restaurant” offers an indoor, intimate setting with views across the beach, presenting à la carte dining. Meanwhile the outdoor terrace by the sea of the “Blù Restaurant” will not disappoint. Its à la carte menu proves the perfect venue for a romantic meal.

Menu options for both restaurants include local specialities and freshly caught fish, along with a sumptuous choice of international cuisine.

3. Hotel Su Gologone

Oliena | 4-star hotel

Hotel Su Gologone lies in the heart of Sardinia, surrounded by Mediterranean flora, with ancient olive trees and vineyards clinging to the slopes of the mountainous terrain. At Su Gologone, mealtimes are saturated with the fragrances and flavours of Barbagia, from Oliena honey to ravioli filled with local ricotta.

The main à la carte restaurant is spread across a terrace with stunning views and features classic Barbagia dishes, with much of the ingredients sourced from the hotel’s own farm.

À la carte Restaurant

In addition to this restaurant, Su Gologone offers two further dining experiences. With a pine tree at its centre, “Nido del Pane” or “Bread Nest” uses glass displays to showcase the artistry of Sardinia’s breads, and you can watch how Sardinian women have been making bread for centuries. During the experience, the women will prepare local, mouth-watering specialities for you to try, leaving you feeling fully integrated into Sardinian culture.

If you are looking to step even further back into time, the “Corte de Su Re” or “King’s Court”
will take you to the 17th century with its bricked floor and stone columns. Two evenings a week, guests are invited to enjoy some of Sardinia’s culinary traditions by candlelight, in the ancient technique of bread baking and spit-roasted meats, which, accompanied by the scents and flavours of the various herbs and spices, makes for a magical atmosphere.
