If you can’t wait to start planning your 2018 summer holiday, here’s why we think you should consider Sardinia...

An Italian island boasting long hot summers and wonderful cuisine, a holiday to Sardinia encompasses something for every kind of holiday-maker. Whether you like relaxing on a white-sand beach, or head into rocky hinterland to do some exploring – there’s something here for you. With our 2018 summer holidays now available to book, why not see what your Sardinia escape could look like? We’ve whittled our reasons to visit down to just five, in the hope one will catch your eye…

1. The wonderful climate

Sardinia’s central position in the Mediterranean means it enjoys some wonderful summer weather, unlike what we experience here in the UK. With average temperatures soaring to a warming 30°C at the height of summer, you’ll find that visiting during this time helps a great deal with the tan and vitamin D dose. It also means that the spring and autumn are also very pleasant times to visit, with May and October averaging in the low to mid-twenties, so those in search of activities and exploration can also enjoy what Sardinia has to offer.

2. The varying landscapes

From glistening golden beaches through to craggy peaks and rugged trails, Sardinia really does have a little bit of everything when it comes to its varying landscapes. Heading inland is a very rewarding experience, and magnificent lakes snaking through mountains are wonderful areas to explore. You’ve also then got the sandy beaches, where shallow crystalline water laps at white sand, making for the perfect relaxing family day out.

3. The gorgeous coastline

As already mentioned, the beaches in Sardinia are not to miss. Heading to Sardinia’s Costa Smeralda region is a wonderful choice for a beach-inspired holiday, or hop across to la Maddalena Islands for totally unspoilt stretches of coastline. We recommend checking out the following beaches:

Capriccioli Beach, Costa Smeralda

Su Giudeu Beach, Southern Sardinia

Cala Portese Beach, La Caprera Island

4. The variety of accommodation

With a whole host of beautiful hotels, stunning villas, apartments and houses available to choose from, you will struggle to settle on just one property that you want to visit! Whether you’re travelling with the whole family or want an exclusive and intimate break for two, we can certainly deliver. Here’s just a few of our favourites:

Villa Girolia, Baia Sardinia – Premium Collection

Villa Blue Coral, Porto Cervo – Comfortable

4* Hotel Gabbiano Azzurro, Golfo Aranci

4* Hotel Su Gologone, Central Sardinia, Oliena

5. The history and culture

Sardinia is blessed by a wonderfully mixed heritage, shaped by the Carthaginians, Romans, Genoese, Aragonese and Italians (and more). Historical landmarks can be found in abundance, such as massive stone burial sites and, huge stone watchtowers and more. We highly recommend you head out and explore some of Sardinia’s history, of which you can find out more about here.
