La Mendula

Very Comfortable  |  Villa

Costa Smeralda & the North East  |  San Pantaleo

4 bedrooms - Sleeps up to 8

Sold out for 2014

Reserve for 2015

Peacefully located in the Galluran countryside between Arzachena, San Pantaleo and the beaches of the Costa Smeralda, La Mendula offers very comfortable accommodation and a great setting for a family holiday.

With a private pool and spacious grounds, La Mendula provides a great option for a family holiday in the north east of Sardinia. The accommodation is divided into two levels, each with separate entrances, two bedrooms, an open plan living/dining room and a kitchen. Both levels are furnished to a good standard although in our opinion, the upper floor is slightly superior with a more modern feel. The lower part of the property is more traditional in style and due to being partially below ground, it remains pleasantly cool in the summer. The villa is immersed in lush Mediterranean gardens and there is a large lawned area at the side of the property, which is ideal for children to play and run around. The swimming pool area will undoubtedly be the focal point of your stay at La Mendula: there are ample sun loungers around the pool along with a covered terrace, a built-in barbecue and fantastic country vistas. For those who want to visit Sardinia for its beaches, they will not be disappointed… there are sublime stretches of sand within easy driving distance, from hidden little coves to the most glamorous beaches on the island. There is also a good selection of shops and restaurants about 4km away, as well as a number of nearby attractions worth visiting. Arzachena is renowned for its archaeological sites and the village of San Pantaleo attracts many visitors for its character, weekly market and bustling atmosphere.

Following feedback from some customers last year, the owner of La Mendula pledged to carry out some work to improve the lighting, bedding and facilities in the lower rooms in time for the 2014 season. We're pleased to announce this work has now been carried out. Wi-Fi is also now available at La Mendula.

About the Local Area

ABOUT AREA

Tucked in among the mountains, San Pantaleo is a rare traditional Galluran village and one of the prettiest on the island. Bursting with character, this charming village is set around a picturesque piazza along with lively cafés and several artisan shops. With its stone-built cottages, stunning position and relaxed atmosphere, many artists have been inspired to take up residency. In the summer, the village boasts regular “feste” and a bustling weekly market, ideal for those looking to experience a piece of Sardinian culture. San Pantaleo is also well poised to explore the many beaches on the Costa Smeralda and the bay of Arzachena. Eat out in the easily found pizzerie and agriturismi (farm restaurants) often owned by members of local families who were here long before any development started.

BEACHES

Tanca Manna
Tanca Manna sits approximately 250 metres from the road behind a saltwater lake. It has a great stretch of sand and plenty of facilities for families. A kilometre beyond Tanca Manna is Barca Bruciata, a small sandy beach which is quiet with no facilities.

Cala Capra
Cala Capra beach just beyond Golfo delle Saline is a pretty sandy bay tucked beneath the impressive Capo D’Orso headland with its distinctive bear shaped weathered rock.

Capriccioli
The Capriccioli headland has five beautiful small sandy beaches. There are facilities for boat hire and also a bar close to the beach. These beaches, including La Celvia, are amongst the most popular in the area.

Spiaggia del Principe
Rather off the beaten track is the Spiaggia del Principe which cannot be reached by car. The last stretch has to be done on foot takes under 10 minutes and is well worth the effort.
